File Locking

File locking allows a Lima user to “Check-Out” a file in order to edit the file. It creates a lock on the file, which prevents other users from overwriting each other’s changes. To edit the document, a user can check-out the document and save it locally in their desktop. Once the user has finished working on a file, it can be checked-in to once again make it available to other users. Users in Lima will then be able to see the very lastest version of the file that has been checked-in.

Any user attempting to “Check-Out” a file that has already been checked out will receive a message informing them of the user that currently has the file locked, and the date and time this action was performed.
